Rockstar has released four official Grand Theft Auto VI videos: Trailer 1 (5 December 2023), Trailer 2 (6 May 2025), An Extended Look (27 August 2026), and the Launch Trailer (15 October 2026), which fans had been calling "Trailer 3". They live on rockstargames.com/VI, on Rockstar’s YouTube, and — for the Extended Look — on Netflix first. This page is a text record of what those posts said. It is not a frame-by-frame screenshot gallery. We do not rip trailer stills.
The game those videos advertise still launches 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A montage is not a manual. If a claim below is not in a Newswire sentence or an on-the-record interview, it is labelled.
Trailer 1 — 5 December 2023
Newswire title: “Watch Trailer 1 Now.” YouTube ID listed in that era’s public posting: QdBZY2fkU-0.
What Rockstar put in writing around it: the next Grand Theft Auto, set in modern-day Vice City / the state of Leonida, dual-protagonist footage, “Coming 2025” on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It also used the line that this is “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet” — a slogan they have reused, including on the Extended Look post.
What the video itself is: a tone piece. Neon, storms, phones, wildlife, police, a woman in a prison-orange moment that the later bios attach to Lucia, a man the later bios attach to Jason. In December 2023 those people were not yet named on the site the way they are now.
What Trailer 1 is not: a release date that still holds. “Coming 2025” was superseded by Fall 2025 in investor materials, then by 26 May 2026, then by 19 November 2026. Old embeds still say 2025. That is how trailers work. They do not patch.
Trailer 2 — 6 May 2025
Newswire title: “Watch Trailer 2 Now.” Same week as the 2 May 2025 date move to 26 May 2026 — which was then superseded in November. Trailer 2 is the one that published the official plot paragraph and named Jason and Lucia in lockstep with the site.
The plot paragraph, still on the product page:
Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.
Trailer 2 is also when store wishlists / pre-order intent started being pointed at from official posts. Actual pre-orders did not open until 25 June 2026.
What fan breakdowns added, which Rockstar did not write down: specific wanted-star counts, identified radio songs as licensed lists, named real-world brands as partners, and a beat-by-beat crime story. Some of those reads will be right in November. They are still reads.
An Extended Look — announced 6 August, released 27 August 2026
Two Newswire posts: the announcement (6 August) and “Now Playing” (27 August). Rockstar’s capture claim: the film is in-game footage captured on PlayStation 5. Runtime reported by Netflix and the press as about 26 minutes. Premiere: Netflix at 3 p.m. ET, then YouTube and the official site at 9 p.m. ET. The 27 August Newswire cites YouTube ID tJbzMqJGH4k.
There is no developer voiceover. That matters. A 26-minute silent-ish montage is a lot of images and almost no rules. Outlets that sat with the film (IGN, NYT, VGC, BBC, The Verge, and others) reported, among other things:
- Character switching
- A wanted level that appears to go to six stars
- Appearance changing with food, sleep, and time on the run
- Clothing affecting how NPCs / police identify you
- Kayaks and fanboats
- Gyms
- Social-media satire
Some of that overlaps on-the-record interviews. Rob Nelson told Dazed in August 2026 that you can play as a couple or solo, that phones get used on the way to a job, and that exercise, food, sleep, and benders show on the character. Interviews are citable with attribution. They still are not a HUD spec.
What to keep in the rumor column even after watching it:
- Exact wanted rules, heat timers, and whether six stars is a cap or a gag in one shot
- Honor meters, “Dead Eye,” or any Red Dead mechanic imported by analogy
- Map-size numbers that journalists attributed after screenings — not a figure on rockstargames.com. See the map page.
- A full animal list, a property-empire list, or “you can post to real Instagram”
Rockstar has not published a mechanical breakdown of the Extended Look. Anyone selling a 4,000-word “every feature confirmed” list from pause-frames is doing fan documentation. Some of it will age well. It is not official.
Launch Trailer ("Trailer 3") — 15 October 2026
YouTube title: “Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer.” It went up on Rockstar’s channel at 6 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. BST on 15 October 2026 with no prior announcement, and it has its own page at rockstargames.com/VI/launch-trailer. YouTube ID: rz1B4B2yBZY. Runtime: 90 seconds. A separate vertical cut with the same title went up for Shorts at the same minute; it is the same trailer, not a fifth video.
What Rockstar put in writing around it:
- The same official plot paragraph as Trailer 2, word for word. No new story text.
- New music from Justice, named by Rockstar as the composers of the game’s original score. The track is “Flower in a Hurricane” feat. Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
- That single is also on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, which is up for pre-save on streaming services and pre-order on vinyl and CD at gtavi-thealbum.com.
Press coverage reported the trailer as captured in-game on PlayStation 5. The official page carries that line for the Extended Look, and the Launch Trailer’s YouTube description does not repeat it. Treat it as reported, not as a quote. Coverage also called it likely the final trailer before release. Rockstar has not said so.
What the Launch Trailer does not change: the date is still 19 November 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It shows no PC logo and no GTA VI Online logo. It adds no edition, price, or pre-load detail.
How to watch without getting spoiler-poisoned
The Extended Look is long enough to show story shapes: jobs going wrong, the couple under pressure, Leonida in daylight and at night. If you want the November campaign intact, you can skip it. Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 already sell the premise.
If you do watch it, watch Rockstar’s upload, not a re-upload with commentary burned in. Commentary is where unconfirmed systems get laundered into “Rockstar confirmed.”
Leaked footage from 2022 and from August 2026 is a different object. It is unauthorized. Rockstar called recent leaks “heartbreaking” and said spoilers may affect the intended experience (statement reported 26 August 2026). This site does not use it as a source, and we will not describe it shot-by-shot.
What the four videos agree on
- Modern-day Vice City in the state of Leonida
- Dual leads, later named Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos
- Phones, social feeds, and a satire of the current American south-east, not 1986
- A crime story, not a tourist brochure
- Current-gen consoles only, in every end card that names hardware
They do not agree on a date, because the date kept moving. They do not show a PC logo. They do not show a GTA VI Online logo. See Online and GTA 6 vs GTA 5 for what that absence means.
Longer text breakdowns: Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look.
Music is the other thing people pull out of these videos. What is actually credited, and what is only identified by ear, is in radio stations and music.

FAQ
How many official GTA 6 trailers are there?
Four: Trailer 1 (Dec 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025), An Extended Look (Aug 2026), and the Launch Trailer (15 Oct 2026).
Is there a GTA 6 Trailer 3?
Yes, in practice. Rockstar did not call it "Trailer 3". The third trailer-length video is titled "Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer" and came out on 15 October 2026. It runs 90 seconds and uses new music from Justice.
Does Trailer 1 still show the right date?
No. “Coming 2025” is stale. Current date: 19 November 2026.
Is An Extended Look gameplay you can play?
No. It is a film captured from in-game PS5 footage.
Do I need Netflix to watch it?
No. After 9 p.m. ET on 27 August 2026 it has been on YouTube and the official site.
Did the trailers confirm Online or PC?
No.
Should I watch leak videos as another trailer?
No. Unauthorized. Rockstar called recent leaks heartbreaking.
What we still don't know
- Whether the Launch Trailer is the last video before 19 November. Press coverage expects so. Rockstar has not said.
- A developer commentary, a Game Informer-style feature walkthrough, or a written systems primer. The Extended Look is the closest thing, and it has no voiceover.
- Which reported Extended Look details are real systems versus one-off shots.
- Licensed soundtrack list. Trailers are not the radio wheel.
- Runtime of the actual campaign. Twenty-six minutes of footage is not a story-length leak.
