Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 went out on 6 May 2025. Rockstar’s Newswire title was “Watch Trailer 2 Now.” The official video page on rockstargames.com/VI lists the runtime as 2:47. Four days earlier, on 2 May 2025, Rockstar had moved the ship date to 26 May 2026 — a date later replaced by 19 November 2026. Trailer 2 is the video that published the official plot paragraph and locked the names Jason and Lucia to the marketing.
This page is a text breakdown. It is not a frame-by-frame stills gallery. Trailer 1 (1:31, December 2023) was the tone piece with “Coming 2025” on the end card. An Extended Look (27 August 2026) is the 26-minute in-game PS5 film. Trailer 2 sits between them: long enough to be a story teaser, short enough that people still over-read every cut.
The paragraph that still governs the story
From the product page, unchanged as of 1 September 2026:
Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.
That is the whole public plot. “Easy score goes wrong” is the hook. “Criminal conspiracy stretching across the state” is the geography claim. “Forced to rely on each other” is the relationship. Trailer 2 is the first time that paragraph was sold as a trailer rather than as later site copy.
Only in Leonida later filled in surnames and bios: Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos, plus supporting people. Trailer 2 itself did not have to carry those bios. The Newswire and the site did.
What Trailer 2 is for, commercially
It landed in the same week as the first calendar day (26 May 2026). Store wishlists and pre-order intent started being pointed at from official posts. Actual pre-orders did not open until 25 June 2026. If you remember Trailer 2 as “the pre-order trailer,” you are collapsing a year. It is a story-and-place trailer that happened to sit next to a date that did not hold.
The end-card date on Trailer 2 is therefore historical, the same way Trailer 1’s “Coming 2025” is historical. Videos do not patch. The live date is on the product page and in Take-Two’s Q1 FY2027 table: 19 November 2026, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
What the film is allowed to show
A 2:47 montage can legally show, without turning into a manual:
- Modern-day Vice City and the wider state of Leonida — neon, weather, water, highways, interiors, crowds. The 6 November 2025 Newswire later called this a return to modern-day Vice City. Trailer 2 is that return in motion.
- Two leads working a score and living in each other’s space. Dual-protagonist footage existed in Trailer 1; Trailer 2 attaches names and a relationship.
- Phones, social feeds, police, wildlife, clubs. The satire is 2020s south-east, not 1986. That is the point of a numbered sequel set in a city last used as a 1980s period piece. The comparison lives in Vice City 2002 vs 2026.
- Vehicles, boats, aircraft, and a density of background people that Trailer 1 only hinted at.
A montage cannot legally confirm, from a pause-frame:
- A wanted-star cap. Six-star reads belong to Extended Look coverage, and even there they are footage, not a Support article.
- Licensed radio tracklists as a final soundtrack. Songs in a trailer are licensed for a trailer.
- Real-world brand partnerships. In-game brands are Rockstar fiction. Dazed (August 2026) later quoted UI VP Stu Petri on building brands that feel like they serve a culture, not a one-off joke. That interview is not Trailer 2.
- A mission order, a betrayal, a death. Trailers lie by compression. Rockstar’s trailers have always done that.
Jason and Lucia, as of this video versus as of the bios
Trailer 2 made them a couple in the marketing. The Only in Leonida pages, which you should treat as the bios, add:
- Jason: grifters, Army, Keys, local drug runners. Meeting Lucia “could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him.”
- Lucia: taught to fight by her father; Leonida Penitentiary; out on “sheer luck”; mother’s dream from Liberty City. First woman billed as a lead in a mainline numbered GTA.
Rob Nelson told Dazed in August 2026 that you can play as a couple or independently, and that you can swap who is driving versus who is on the phone. Rupert Humphries, Rockstar’s senior VP of narrative, called it “a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative” in the same package. Those quotes are 2026 interviews, not 2025 trailer captions. Do not back-date them onto Trailer 2 as if the video had a voiceover.
Voice-actor names circulating online are unofficial. Dan Houser left Rockstar in 2020 and told IGN in 2025 he did not write this game.
Places the trailer is not a gazetteer for
Rockstar has named six destinations on the Only in Leonida tour: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga. Trailer 2 shows a Florida-shaped satire. It does not pin those six names to timestamps. Listing every shop sign someone paused on, and calling the list “confirmed POIs,” is how pre-release wikis fill with junk.
Lucia’s penitentiary and Liberty City are named in her bio, not as Trailer 2 map pins. Liberty City is prior history, not a second playable city as announced.
What fan breakdowns added, which Rockstar did not write down
After May 2025, YouTube filled with “every detail in Trailer 2” videos. Some of those details were real objects in a shot. Some were wishful mapping onto GTA V systems. As of 1 September 2026, still unconfirmed from Trailer 2 alone:
- Exact wanted rules, heat timers, clothing-as-ID (later discussed in Extended Look / IGN preview reporting — still not a Support spec).
- Map-size ratios. “2× Los Santos” and “3× RDR2” circulated after 27 August 2026 as journalist-attributed comments, not as Trailer 2 math.
- Co-op, split-screen, or a second player. PlayStation’s current product page lists 1 player. See co-op.
- A GTA VI Online mode. The 24 June 2026 Newswire calls the SKU a single-player experience. Trailer 2 never claimed otherwise.
- PC. Not on the end card, not on the product page.
The 2022 leak is not a decoder ring for Trailer 2. Unauthorized development footage is not a source on this site.
How to watch it in September 2026 without getting the date wrong
Watch Rockstar’s upload. Ignore end cards. The date is 19 November 2026. If a recap thumbnail still says May 2026, the recap is stale.
Trailer 2 is the right video if you want the plot paragraph in motion and the couple as a commercial idea. It is the wrong video if you want systems. For systems, the honest stack is: Nelson / Humphries interviews, IGN’s North visit as reporting, Extended Look as footage, Support as the only mechanical-adjacent document (and Support is about editions, not wanted stars).
A longer vs-sequel table is in GTA 6 vs GTA 5. The recap hub is everything we know.
FAQ
When did Trailer 2 come out?
6 May 2025. Runtime 2:47 on the official video page.
Did Trailer 2 announce the current release date?
No. It sat next to the 26 May 2026 window, which Rockstar replaced on 6 November 2025.
Were Jason and Lucia named in Trailer 1?
Not the way they are now. Trailer 1 showed dual leads. Trailer 2 and the accompanying copy named them.
Is Trailer 2 still worth watching after the Extended Look?
Yes, if you want the two-minute plot sell. No, if you are hunting systems. The 26-minute film is the systems tease, and even that is a montage.
Does Trailer 2 confirm Online or PC?
No.
What we still don't know
- How much of Trailer 2’s story shape survives contact with the November campaign. Trailers compress and rearrange.
- Whether every supporting face in the cuts is one of the named Only in Leonida people.
- Soundtrack as a licensed list for the game, not the trailer.
- Why the May 2026 date moved, beyond the polish sentence in the November 2025 Newswire.
Last checked 1 September 2026 against the Trailer 2 Newswire (6 May 2025), rockstargames.com/VI and the official video page (runtime 2:47), Only in Leonida bios, and the 6 November 2025 date-move post. Fan pause-frame encyclopedias remain unofficial.
