Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders opened at midnight local time on 25 June 2026. Digital and physical Standard copies bought before 20 November 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital pre-orders also include one month of GTA+, which is a membership for the existing Grand Theft Auto V Online — not a VI multiplayer mode.
That is the commercial window, sourced from Take-Two / Rockstar’s 24 June 2026 Business Wire release, the 24 June Newswire, the Rockstar Store, and Rockstar Support (18 August 2026). The launch date those pre-orders point at is 19 November 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. What is in each edition is on GTA 6 editions. Storefront figures are on the editions and prices sheet. Why regional numbers differ is why GTA 6 prices differ by country.
Not confirmed (1 September 2026). Sensor Tower estimated about 5 million pre-orders, as reported on 1 September 2026 by TheGameVerse. That is a third-party estimate; Take-Two has published no pre-order number.
Vintage Vice City Pack (the actual pre-order bonus)
This is separate from Ultimate. It is attached to pre-orders and purchases before 20 November 2026, digital or physical. Support lists:
- ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage
- Outfits and Hairstyles
- Exclusive Weapon Pattern
The product page’s line is “unique benefits that flash back to when the neon burned brightest.” That is the 1980s Vice City nod, not a promise that the pack contains Grand Theft Auto: Vice City content. It is three named cosmetics/vehicles in a new game.
The Store’s fine print says “while supplies last.” Rockstar has not defined a supply cap in the Support article. Support treats the 20 November date as the line that matters, and the “supplies” clause as a reservation they printed. Day-one buyers on the 19th are still inside the window. If the second purchase is on or after 20 November, the cutoff has passed. Timing is the point of a cutoff.
The GTA+ month, which is easy to misread
Digital pre-orders of either edition include one month of GTA+. Rockstar’s own Newswire points you to details on rockstargames.com/VI. The membership is redeemable against the existing GTA+ Games Library / GTA Online — current-gen Grand Theft Auto V. It is not evidence of a GTA VI Online launch, and it is not a VI battle pass. PlayStation’s product page: claim by 31 March 2027; the month auto-renews unless you cancel; existing subscribers get the month added on. Xbox listing language tracked here: redeem within 180 days of the pre-order.
Physical code-in-box pre-orders, per Support, include the Vintage Vice City Pack. They do not list the GTA+ month. If you are buying a box to get GTA+, you are buying the wrong SKU.
How GTA Online itself relates to VI is a different page: GTA 6 Online.
Physical copies: a box, a code, no disc
This is the part that will still surprise people in November.
The physical Standard version “containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting November 12 to support pre-loading. A disc will not be included in the box.” That is Support, 18 August 2026. The Store repeats it: “Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12.” Estimated shipping date on the Store: 12 November 2026.
Zelnick’s line that Take-Two is “well over 90% digitally distributed” is the corporate version of the same decision. You are not getting a playback disc. You are getting a license in cardboard, timed so the download can start a week before launch.
Buy the box in the country of your PlayStation account. Support publishes region groups for PlayStation codes and says Xbox codes are not region-locked. Japan PlayStation codes expire 170 days after the launch date. Cross-region bargains are how people lock themselves out of a $80 game.
There is no physical Ultimate to hunt.
Pre-load is 12 November, not 19 November
Digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading at local midnight on 12 November 2026. Physical codes redeemed before launch also start that pre-load on the 12th. The game is still locked until 19 November unless a storefront breaks its own hold, which is not a Rockstar promise.
Storage space is not published. Plan for a large SSD block and wait for the download manager to print a number. Invented “150 GB” tweets are not a spec. See the launch checklist and system requirements.
Where to buy, and what “live” means
Rockstar’s Newswire of 24 June 2026 says pre-orders are available globally via rockstargames.com/VI. The Rockstar Store sells the code-in-box Standard SKU at $79.99 in the US listing we checked. PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store sell the digital editions. Retailers will sell the same code-in-box.
How to cancel a pre-order
Cancellation follows the store you used. Rockstar is not a single refund desk.
Rockstar Store (physical code-in-box). Support’s Pre-Order Purchase FAQ (24 June 2026) points refunds at Xsolla: help.xsolla.com, including a pre-order cancel article. Purchase issues also go to Xsolla, not a PlayStation ticket.
PlayStation Store. Sony’s own refund rules apply. Across PlayStation regions, digital refunds commonly fail once the main content has started downloading. Pre-load on 12 November is the practical cliff. Do not start the download if you still want a refund. Confirm the current wording on PlayStation Support for your country before you assume a 14-day window.
Xbox / Microsoft Store. Microsoft’s order history is the self-serve path. Digital pre-orders are generally cancellable until close to release; once the download starts, treat that as the end of easy refunds. Confirm on Xbox Support.
Other retailers. Amazon, GameStop, local chains: their pre-order policy, not Rockstar’s. A deposit at a high-street shop is not a PlayStation ticket.
GTA+ auto-renew is a separate cancel. Redeeming the free month starts a membership that continues until you turn it off in the store that sold it. PlayStation documents this on the VI product page.
This site is not your refund department. If a charge looks wrong, use the store’s receipt.
FAQ
Can I cancel a pre-order?
Yes, through the store you used, usually until the download starts. Pre-load on 12 November is the practical cliff on PlayStation.
What is the Vintage Vice City Pack cutoff?
Purchases before 20 November 2026.
What we still don't know
- Whether Vintage Vice City Pack contents are story-locked or sitting in a garage on boot.
- Whether “while supplies last” on the Pack is a real cap or leftover legal copy.
- File size, so you cannot yet test whether a 12 November pre-load finishes overnight on a slow line.
- A PC pre-order, because there is no PC SKU.
Last checked 14 September 2026 against the 24 June 2026 Newswire, Take-Two’s pre-order press release, store.rockstargames.com, and Rockstar Support (18 August 2026). The Sensor Tower figure is a third-party estimate, not a Take-Two number.
