Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is the date printed on rockstargames.com/VI as of 1 September 2026, the date Rockstar put on the Newswire on 6 November 2025, and the date Take-Two listed again in its Q1 FY2027 earnings on 7 August 2026. It is a calendar day, not a season and not a rumor.
If you last looked this up in 2023, you saw “Coming 2025.” If you looked it up in May 2025, you saw 26 May 2026. Both of those windows are dead. This page is a date check. For the full delay history see the delay timeline.
The current official window
Rockstar’s 6 November 2025 Newswire post is the one that still governs the calendar: “Grand Theft Auto VI is Now Set to Launch November 19, 2026.” The stated reason was extra months “to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Take-Two has not walked that back. On 7 August 2026 the company repeated November 19 in its product lineup and Strauss Zelnick told the earnings call he had a “high degree of confidence around the November 19 release.”
The product page still lists only two platforms. PC is not on that page, not on the Rockstar Store listing, and not in Take-Two’s announced FY2027 table. See platforms if that is the actual question you searched.
November 19 is a Thursday. Regional PlayStation Store listings timestamp the digital unlock at midnight local time on 19 November 2026 in each store’s region. The per-country hours are in the unlock-times table; Xbox store times have not been checked there.
Dates that sit next to launch, and are also official
These are not the release date. They are the dates Rockstar has attached to getting the game onto a console.
| Date | What Rockstar actually said | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 25 June 2026, midnight local | Pre-orders open, including Ultimate Edition | Newswire, 18 Jun and 24 Jun 2026 |
| 12 November 2026, local midnight | Digital pre-load begins | Newswire 24 Jun 2026; Support article 18 Aug 2026 |
| 12 November 2026 | Physical code-in-a-box expected for shipping and pickup, so the code can start that pre-load. No disc in the box. | Rockstar Support, 18 Aug 2026; Rockstar Store |
| 19 November 2026 | Launch | Newswire 6 Nov 2025; product page |
| Before 20 November 2026 | Vintage Vice City Pack included with pre-orders and purchases | Newswire 24 Jun 2026; Store |
A pre-load is not an early play date. Rockstar’s wording is that digital pre-orders can start downloading on the 12th “to ensure they are able to play at launch on November 19.” If a storefront lets you boot the title early, that would be a storefront leak, not a published policy.
The practical version of this table is the launch checklist. Pricing and edition differences live in the pre-order explainer.
What “Coming 2025” was, and why search results still show it
Trailer 1, published 5 December 2023, ended on “Coming 2025” for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two later tightened that in investor materials to Fall 2025. On 2 May 2025 Rockstar moved the date to 26 May 2026. On 6 November 2025 it moved again, to 19 November 2026.
Old trailers, old thumbnails, and old news pages still rank. Google does not retire a Newswire post when the studio supersedes it. If a result still says 2025 or May 2026, it is stale. The current public date is November 19, 2026.
That history is why this query stays hot. People are not confused about the existence of the game. They are checking whether the date moved again. As of 1 September 2026, it has not.
What Take-Two has and has not promised
On the 7 August 2026 call, Zelnick declined to quantify pre-orders. He called the start “exceptional.” That is a CEO adjective, not a unit figure. Take-Two’s published number around the same event is the company-wide FY2027 net bookings outlook of $8.0–$8.2 billion. That range is for the whole company, not a GTA VI first-week forecast.
Analyst first-week revenue guesses, “biggest entertainment launch in history” headlines, and $1B+ development-budget figures are not Take-Two guidance. Treat them as analyst copy.
Zelnick also said Take-Two’s business is “well over 90% digitally distributed,” which matches the disc-free physical SKU. It is not a statement about a PC build.
What this date does not include
- A PC launch. Not listed. Historical GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 PC gaps are a pattern, not a promise. System requirements do not exist because a PC SKU does not exist.
- A GTA VI Online launch day. The 24 June 2026 Newswire describes the game as “a single player experience.” The free month of GTA+ on digital pre-orders is for the existing Grand Theft Auto V Online. See GTA 6 Online.
- A last-gen or Nintendo SKU. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch are not on the product page.
How to read a “delay” rumor between now and November
From here to 19 November, almost any “it’s slipping to 2027” post will outrun a correction. The only sources that can move this date are Rockstar Newswire, the product page, and Take-Two IR. YouTube thumbnails, retailer “coming soon” glitches, and leaked build numbers cannot.
If Rockstar does move it again, the Newswire post will be unambiguous, the way the May 2025 and November 2025 posts were. Until that happens, November 19, 2026 is the date.

What we still don't know
- Xbox / Microsoft Store unlock hours. PlayStation Store midnight-local timestamps are in the unlock-times table.
- Whether the date moves a third time. Zelnick’s August language is confident. It is not a contract with players.
- A PC date, or even a confirmation that a PC SKU is in the FY2027 or FY2028 lineup.
- Whether a successor to GTA Online ships in the same window. It is not in the launch copy.
- File size, install space, and whether a day-one patch is expected. None of that is on Support.
