Rockstar has shipped its last two major single-player games console-first and followed with a PC port. Grand Theft Auto V reached PC roughly 18 months after the original consoles (September 2013 → April 2015). Red Dead Redemption 2 reached PC roughly 13 months after consoles (October 2018 → November 2019). That is history. It is not “GTA 6 PC in 2027.” It is not “GTA 6 PC in 2028.” Arithmetic on a pattern is speculation. Label it.
If you searched “GTA 6 PC release date,” the honest answer is a blank. The blank is not a secret 2027 calendar entry. It is the absence of a SKU.
Strauss Zelnick, Bloomberg, early May 2026: “Rockstar always starts on console… you’re judged by serving the core.” He denied that a Sony marketing deal is why PC is missing at launch. He did not announce a PC SKU. He did not give a year. A denial of one rumor is not the announcement of another product.
Grand Theft Auto VI is not listed for PC. Not on rockstargames.com/VI, not on the Rockstar Store, not in Rockstar Support’s platforms article (updated 18 August 2026), and not in Take-Two’s Q1 FY2027 product table (7 August 2026). Steam, Epic, and the Rockstar Launcher are not selling it. There is no PC price, no PC date.
The consoles that are listed launch 19 November 2026. Broader hardware: platforms.
If you need a single sentence for a group chat: console-first is how this company launches; a VI PC version is a reasonable expectation from that habit; it is still unconfirmed.
Not confirmed (4 September 2026). Wccftech, citing VGC, argued a PC version could come sooner because of console price pressure. No PC version or date has been announced.
The four places a PC SKU would have to appear
A Rockstar PC game this size does not hide. It shows up in some combination of:
- The product page platform row
- Support’s “what platforms” sentence
- Take-Two’s earnings lineup table
- A storefront (Steam, Epic, Rockstar Launcher) with a cart button
As of 1 September 2026, all four are console-only for VI. Wishlist buttons on unofficial pages are not a product. Grey-market “PC keys” for a game that is not sold on PC are a scam.
What “Plays Best On PlayStation 5” does not add
Rockstar put a Sony-favored tagline on its own site. None of that is a statement that PC is cancelled. None of it is a statement that PC is coming after Pro owners are sated. It is console marketing for a console SKU.
Why fake spec sheets exist
People want a Can You Run It widget. In the vacuum, sites recycle GTA V’s 2015 PC rows, invent “RTX 4070 / 32 GB / 150 GB,” or launder leak capture kits into retail specs. This site will not.
There is no system requirements sheet, because requirements describe a product that has been listed. Do not buy a GPU “for GTA 6” based on a blog table. If you were already upgrading, upgrade for games that exist.
PC players and the November window
You cannot pre-order a PC copy. You cannot pre-load one. The launch checklist is a console document.
Options that are not a PC SKU:
- Play the listed consoles if you have one or will buy one.
- Wait for Newswire or Take-Two to name PC.
- Keep playing GTA V / GTA Online on PC. That is a different game. The free GTA+ month on VI digital pre-orders is for that existing service, and it is attached to console pre-orders. See GTA Online after GTA 6.
- Play other PC open-world games while you wait. See what to play.
Do not treat current-gen GTA V on PC as a preview of VI’s port. Different engine generation, different decade, different hardware baseline. Sequel comparison: GTA 6 vs GTA 5.
Mods, Steam Deck, and other PC-only wishes
Unconfirmed, because there is no PC product:
- Rockstar Launcher versus Steam versus Epic as the store of record
- Always-online checks, Social Club DRM, and whether single-player needs a login
- Official mod tools, or the usual unofficial ones
- Steam Deck / ROG Ally verification
- Frame-rate uncapping, ultra settings, and photo-mode folders
- A PC-only timed exclusive with a store
V’s PC launch had its own DRM fights. Predicting VI’s is fan fiction.
Confirmed versus rumor
| Confirmed | Rumor / unconfirmed | |
|---|---|---|
| Launch platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X\ | S | PC in 2027 |
| No PC SKU on product page, Support, Take-Two FY2027 table, or major PC stores | PC in 2028 | |
| Zelnick: console-first; denied a Sony deal as the reason PC is missing | “Sony paid to delay PC” as fact | |
| V ~18 months to PC; RDR2 ~13 months to PC | Those gaps as a VI promise | |
| No PC system requirements | Any specific GPU/RAM table |
FAQ
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not in any announced lineup. Historically Rockstar has ported later. That is not a date.
Will it be on Steam?
Unknown. There is no store page.
Can I wishlist it on Steam?
Not as an official VI product as of 1 September 2026. Ignore unofficial listings.
Are there system requirements?
No. A requirements page without a SKU is fiction.
Should I buy a console for this game if I only play on PC?
Taste and money. The listed product is consoles on 19 November. A PC SKU is not on the calendar.
What we still don't know
- Whether a PC SKU exists internally.
- Which year it would ship, if it ships.
- Which storefronts would sell it.
- Whether a PC release would include a successor to GTA Online, or only the campaign.
Last checked 14 September 2026 against rockstargames.com/VI, store.rockstargames.com, Rockstar Support (18 August 2026), Take-Two Q1 FY2027 (7 August 2026), and Zelnick’s May 2026 Bloomberg remarks as reported. No PC edition has been listed. The 4 September 2026 Wccftech/VGC line is labelled not confirmed.
